Curse

i would like you to read this story and tell me how it makes you feel.

when i first started playing this game the infamous error seven was almost unheard of. you could play for weeks withought ever getting even one.

tonight i tried to go down to fissure for the first time in about a month to farm spiders.

when i clicked yes and payed my way into fissure the instant it went to load the map i recieved an error seven. returned to check my inventory. i had lost my 1k

I went back to try again. and the same error seven happend. and again i lost 1k.

The third time i tried, i was finally able to load the map. but i had new files to download in fissure for some reason.. when i finished loading those files i took one step and BAM massive lagg spike..

A minute later i found myself dead on the ground with the dead ghost next to me with a giant mission failed message. another 1k lost

There had been massive increases in error sevens and lag spikes over the past few months.

The loss of money does not bother me at all.. its the fact that i errored twice and lag spiked once all in the course of about seven minutes.

Now this is not a one time thing or a one person thing.. this happens all the time and it happens to us all.

In the end i guess what im trying to get at is.. why is this happining.. i understand there is alot more people playing this game..

but how can that be the cause of this many server side errors.

and if its this bad now.. how bad will it be with the nightfall release?

Anet has a hard enough time getting updates right as it is..

I would like to say that... this game is quickly dying from its own severside neglect.

I know there has been many a thread on this problem and mine is just one of hundreds... but dang man.. it happens soo much.

I guess im just uterlly disgusted with how bad things have gotten in gw. and i guess i somehow expect some one else to feel the same way

I miss the good old days of open enviroments and lag free gameplay.

I mean there was so much to acomplish in prophecies as an up and coming player back in the day.

I remember loving to go on strong box runs dreaming of getting a crystaline.

Speaking of dreams.. thats what prophecies was made of.

you could dream to learn to run droknars
you could dream to be a 55 monk
you could dream to win halls
you could dream for a sup absorbtion to drop

back in the day in prophecies there where many high level goals you could dream to acheive..

the only dreams now are those of error 7 and lagg free days and the time when you finally get outa the confines of factions maps..

not even rare items are worth dreaming about anymore.

This game has turned into a nightmare..

this thread has kinda turned into one big nonsence rant.. but there is one final and simple truth..

this game used to have a feeling about it that kept you playing for hours and hours on end.. that feeling is now gone.

If you want to flame go ahead. if you want to agree.. please do..

I honestly havn't played on Guild Wars for periods of over 5 minutes in the past month. I've double-clicked the Guild Wars icon some..3 times in the past month. Why I'm still here? I like forums.

I do not get many error code=007s but yea, last night...that just took the pure, unbridled piss. I was trying to help an alliance member get to the end of the Factions campaign, we got through Unwaking Waters reasonably easily (for some reason there was an excess of monks!) and then we got to Raisu Palace...we tried, and tried but every time we rtried to enter Raisu Palace mission we all got error code=005s...

Later on there was a message flash up saying a new build of GW was available...so I restarted, reluctantly, knowing how long it had taken me to download the 4000 files earlier...and Lo and Behold, we could get in to Raisu.

We did eventuallly finish the game and the lassie in question did get the phoenix at the end she had yearned for! (not before some little sods killed the first one they saw her trying to charm...but that's another story)

The lag last night was also unbelievable...I just hope that somewhere...in an ANet office...there is a big board full of LEDs...which flash red when something is wrong...because last night they would all have been going like mad. What's they betting they were all down the pub?

sorry...that was a little longer than I was aiming for...but consider this post as an agreement to the OP.

I have yet to have an err 7 that was not caused by something that I could control. Modem dying, me pulling the cord for my net for testing. Those are the only two err 7's I've had since I came home from school back in May.

Only lag that I can account for is because of my computer being rather old and not being able to handle everything easily.

I dont know why people are getting these Err's, I would like to know the real reason for this, but if its something we cant control why whine and complain about it?

Well my PC usually works fine - not a problem. I can log into GW...play for 6 hours straight and suffer from no errors at all (Note: I am NOT suggesting people should play for 6 hours...). But last night was just something special... I don't have a slow broadband speed but I was downloading the update last night at about 15kb/s....took about 15 minutes, then another 25 minutes while it downloaded the next 4000 files when I tried to enter a town. The amount of lag was unbelievable.

I think it is controllable...if not by us then ANet...I really would not be surpised if they did not get millions of complaints last night about it. And I whine and complain about it because I need somewhere to vent my frustration

(as I suspect a lot of other people do as well)

The latest few e7's and lag has come from the fact that they had moved the server to LA, instead of keeping it in washington.

The last full unschedueled server shutdown was because of the server overheating, so their move of the server wasn't the greatest idea imo. So alot of the lag and e7's may be comming from that.
